Alexander R. Payne

Biography
Alex Payne is the Senior Human Factors Engineering Specialist at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. In his 8+ years there, he has been instrumental in establishing the company’s human factors engineering processes, has trained staff, and has overseen the human factors for numerous devices cleared by the US FDA.
Alex is a committee member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of New Zealand (HFESNZ) and has recently joined the ISO joint working group on applying usability engineering to medical devices.
Prior to working on medical devices, Alex completed a PhD at the University of Auckland with publications in human-computer interaction and hand-eye coordination.
Originally from Australia, Alex’s background includes a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University.
