Biography
Matt Scanlon, MD, MS, CPPS, CPHFH, is a Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and former hospital Patient Safety Officer. He has had formal training in Quality Improvement, patient safety, and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering. Additionally, he helped create both the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Certified Professional in Patient Safety and Certified Professional in Human Factors in Healthcare Certification exams.

His research has focused on a range of topics, with extensive collaboration with HFE Professionals. Recent research as centered understanding work as done in applied healthcare settings including diagnosis in the pediatric emergency department and medication administration in the pediatric intensive care unit.
