Michelle Chui
Biography
Michelle A. Chui, PharmD, PhD, FAPhA is a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor in the University of
Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing where she leads the Excellence in Mentoring Initiatives. Her research focuses on applying human factors engineering approaches and implementation science principles to improving medication safety in the outpatient setting. As a pharmacist/health services researcher, she has conducted federally-funded projects to develop a patient safety learning laboratory, test a systems redesign intervention to improve over-the-counter medication safety for older adults, and to evaluate CancelRx, a health IT functionality to reduce medication discrepancies. She has published over 110 peer reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. Dr. Chui is the Director of the Community and Collaboration module of the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) where she focuses on mentoring and workforce development programs to enhance and support
authentic community engagement. She has mentored over 40 successful trainees, including junior faculty, TL1 and KL2 trainees, residents, and graduate and pharmacy students. Her lab received the Best Paper Award in the Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy journal (2022) and Exploratory Research in Clinical and Social Pharmacy journal (2023).
