Biography
Alexis Gomez Hernandez is a Ph.D. Candidate in Industrial Engineering at the University at Buffalo, New York, with a concentration in Human Factors. His research focuses on ergonomics, machine learning applications in human factors, wearable sensors, and gait analysis, with a particular interest in how emerging technologies can enhance human performance and well-being in complex systems.

In 2025, he was a presenter at HFES International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care, participating in the workshop “Leveraging Behavioral Science and Artificial Intelligence to Design Better Healthcare Products and Systems.” He is also affiliated with Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile, where he contributes to advancing human factors and ergonomics research.

Before pursuing his doctoral studies, Alexis worked as a Project Engineer in the industry, where he focused on operational excellence and productivity improvement initiatives. He later served as a teaching faculty member at Universidad Católica del Norte, instructing courses in operations management and industrial engineering.
