Mustafa Ozkaynak

Biography
Mustafa Ozkaynak joined the faculty of the University of Colorado College of Nursing in 2013. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As a PhD student, he received a Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) PhD scholarship. His dissertation was entitled “Characterizing Workflow in Hospital Emergency Departments.”
His research interests include workflow in clinical and non-clinical health settings and the organizational and social consequences of health information technologies. He is also interested in researching the characterization of workflow to inform health information technologies; workflow-informed adaptable clinical decision support systems; and clinical decision support systems that are informed by activities of daily living.
Dr. Ozkaynak holds a PhD in Industrial Systems and Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison and a Master's in Industrial Systems and Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
His research has been supported by Agency for Healthcare Research and Safety (AHRQ), National Institute of Health (NIH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC). He is a fellow of Health Information Management Systems Society and an editorial board member of the Applied Clinical Informatics Journal.
