Korey Johnson
Biography
Managing Partner and co-founder of Bold Insight, Korey has over 20 years of experience in UX and HF research. He has a passion for making medical devices safer and more effective through the application of HFE/UE, as well as, establishing and maintaining an organizational culture that supports the development of expert HF practitioners – both of which are central to the mission of Bold Insight. Korey began his career in automotive UX working at Daimler to improve the design of vehicle cockpits and in-vehicle systems. During graduate school he applied the principles of human factors engineering to the problem of user authentication, creating a novel graphical authentication mechanism for which he holds a patent. Korey developed and managed the medical device human factors practice for two UX research agencies, growing the medical device human factors practice from a handful of formative and summative usability tests each year to over 100 annual research and design engagements spanning the entire medical and drug delivery device development process. The expansion of this practice required the development of robust internal training programs to establish adherence to human factors principles and best practices which are in place at Bold Insight. Korey is a contributing author to industry standards, regularly speaks at national and international conferences, and has an MS in Human Factors Psychology from the University of Idaho.
