Mark McShane

Biography
Dr. Mark McShane is a board-certified pediatrician in the Division of General Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). As Climate Leadership Co-Chair for CHOP's Sustainability Council, he helps organize and coordinate sustainable quality improvement projects around the hospital. In that role, he has also helped build CHOP’s Sustainable Healthcare Coalition into a group of over 100 healthcare workers focused on decarbonizing healthcare.
Dr. McShane advocates for climate action at the local and state policy level as co-chair of the Climate and Environmental Health Committee for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a passionate educator; he helped develop and implement climate & sustainability curricula at two of the largest pediatric residency programs in the U.S. and he continues to facilitate sustainability education for resident physicians at CHOP. Mark loves reading fiction, visiting new places, and relaxing at the Jersey shore. He also has a long-standing love/hate relationship with his hometown Philly sports teams.
