Kristen Miller
Biography
Kristen Miller, DrPH, MSPH, MSL, CPPS is Co-Director of the MedStar Health Center for Diagnostic Systems Safety and Senior Scientific Director at the MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare. She also serves as Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Affiliate Faculty at the Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics. A nationally recognized human factors researcher, Dr. Miller focuses on improving diagnostic safety, decision-making, and care delivery through the lens of systems engineering and cognitive psychology. She leads the AHRQ-funded Patient Partnered Diagnostic Center of Excellence and is committed to making healthcare safer and easier to navigate—whether patients are
in the hospital or at home. Her research combines rigorous methods with real-world relevance, spanning qualitative and quantitative evaluations, simulation, and usability studies. Dr. Miller’s work is rooted in partnership with patients, families, caregivers, advocates, and clinical teams, ensuring that their voices shape solutions that advance safety, equity, and trust in healthcare. She teaches across Georgetown’s School of Medicine, School of Health, and informatics programs, and mentors the next generation of leaders in patient safety and health systems innovation.
