Fernando Montalvo
Biography
Fernando Montalvo, Ph.D., is a Human Factors Specialist with experience spanning healthcare usability and spaceflight operations. His prior healthcare research includes usability evaluations of at-home hemodialysis devices, UX-driven analyses of patient experience, and assessments of COVID test kit usability to reduce errors in home-based diagnostics. He currently serves as the Human Factors Lead for Astrion on NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems, where he guides human-systems integration, procedure design, and human error mitigation. Dr. Montalvo’s recent work focuses on applying generative AI to evaluate complex work instructions and understand user engagement with AI in healthcare and technical environments.
