Andrew Melendez

Biography
Andrew Melendez, DO, is an Emergency Medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente Central Valley with a passion for advancing education through medical simulation and mentorship. A first-generation college graduate, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Merced, before completing his medical degree at Touro University California in Vallejo. He went on to train in Emergency Medicine at the University of Connecticut, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Melendez completed a fellowship in medical simulation at the Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation and was an instructor of Emergency Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. His scholarly interests focus on the use of mixed-fidelity simulation to enhance learning for residents and medical students, as well as mentorship for students from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine. He continues to combine his clinical practice with his commitment to education and mentorship.
