Biography
Sue is an award-winning product developer with over 25 years of experience at the intersection of health, design, technology, research, and marketing. She has led end-to-end medical device development across start-ups and large global companies. Her work spans a broad range of innovations for hospital and home use, including CPAP machines, masks, ventilators, humidifiers, health wearables, smartphone and web applications, digital adherence tools, surgical navigation systems, robotics, and intraoperative surgical devices.
Throughout her career, Sue has worked across diverse roles in industrial design, user interface design, systems engineering, team leadership, marketing, and program management and as a medical device human factors specialist. Her background as an ICU nurse gives her a unique, cross-disciplinary perspective. Sue has led the design and execution of human factors analyses, usability evaluations, validation studies, and interface design optimisation to meet regulatory requirements, business, and user needs.
Sue is passionate about simplicity, designing healthcare experiences and products that make it easier for patients to self-manage and for clinicians to deliver care. She supports founders and medical device companies in navigating medical device design, development, and regulation, shaping safe and satisfying solutions for users that are viable, feasible, and desirable, truly serving the people who use them and ensuring they fit the markets they’re designed to transform.
