Kara Fitzgibbon

Biography
Dr. Kara Fitzgibbon is a social science researcher who specializes in multi-mode survey design, mixed-methods data collection, and community-driven research. Since 2019, she has served as Director of the Center for Survey Research (CSR), a full-service survey center, at the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. At CSR, Dr. Fitzgibbon leads a multidisciplinary research team and oversees all stages of the research process, from initial study and sampling design to instrument development, primary data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting. Her portfolio includes major projects in public health, community needs assessment, program evaluation, and democratic engagement, and she regularly presents her work at national professional conferences in public opinion research. Dr. Fitzgibbon holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia and a B.A. in Sociology and Religious Studies from Washington and Lee University.
