Dr. Bethany Lowndes is an associate professor and certified professional ergonomist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the Department of Neurological Sciences. Her research and clinical responsibilities with Nebraska Medicine as the Human Factors Safety Engineer focus on applications of human factors and ergonomics principals to improve health care delivery, workload for individuals providing care, and patient safety. Her work has included usability assessment of devices and processes involved in health care delivery, measurement of workload and stress in the workplace, and design and implementation of interventions to improve workflow, workload, safety, health, and performance. Dr. Lowndes also serves as the Scientific Director of the Innovation Design Unit.
